UQ Rugby Academy players Conor Mitchell and Nick Malouf have been invited to train with the Australian Sevens squad at Ballymore on Wednesday June 20th.
“I’m really excited about it, a little nervous but really excited,” Mitchell said. “It’s a great pathway.
“I want to get into Super Rugby and hopefully test rugby at some stage but I love the format of Sevens.
“I certainly want to learn; I’m a bit inexperienced but ready to learn from the others.”
Mitchell said the Academy helped polish his skills.
“It’s definitely helped a lot,” he said. “Dave (Enfantie) and Macka (Cameron McIntosh) have really helped improve my skills even with the minor things.”
Mitchell is also part of UQ’s undefeated Premier Colts side, which currently sits at the top of the competition.
“We’ve got a lot of depth,” Mitchell said. “We play for each other and we just really enjoy it.
“Playing with each other, it’s good fun.”
